Makhasa High School, educational centre of choice
Makhasa HS is situated in a rural community. Unemployment rate is still high and most community members are still poverty-stricken. The community is supportive; parents come through to parents meetings, even though there is a high illiteracy rate amongst the parents. They take pride in the school and some parents that have been to the games have expressed that they like seeing talent and skills being developed and thus the LdB FC-program has received a lot of enthusiasm. The women’s soccer team practices every Thursday, which is a sports day, unless if something major comes up. The school is looking at buying the same equipment that LdB FC brought for the five a side tournament held in the 2nd term 2009, so that learners can find it easier to hold practices during school hours.
The coach is enthusiastic about the women’s soccer program, and the girls like taking part in the practices and games.

Since 2009 Makhasa HS is a no-fee school. We are the best-resourced school in the district and supported by Mindset Learn. We offer subjects that none of the other schools in the ward do: Tourism, Hospitality, Consumer Studies, Computer Applications Technology which will enable your child to access employment opportunities in the local Tourism industry.
We are not only an educational centre, but also a centre of care for orphans and vulnerable children. There are many projects in the pipeline to add value to our care regime, a sustainable mayoral project is planned to benefit OVC’s.
We have a partnership with an overseas–based Sundorne School, which enables two students two to go abroad to study engineering.
