MDUKU
Mduku High school is situated in Mduku area, 25 km from Hluhluwe, on the way to Sodwana. Mduku Reserve is a rural community with a high prevalence of unemployment and because of that they are poverty-stricken. The community is de-motivated but pretend to take interest in their children's lives.The school is academic-driven and sport is not of vital significance to the school. The working conditions between teachers are fairly good, and the learners' behaviour overall is okay. The school has got both laboratory and library, but unfortunately non of them are functioning.
The women’s soccer team at Mduku HS is coached by Mr Zulu. The practices are starting as soon as he is off duty, at 14h30. Before that the girls have had 30 minutes to clean the classrooms and prepare themselves for practice. The optimal situation would be to release the coach half an hour earlier and give the soccer girls redemption from the cleaning the days of practice, in order to give them more time in the pitch.
The girls are motivated to partake in sports and inevitably play soccer professionally. There are a lot of girls that come from lower grades, which is Grade 08 and 09, and thus their confidence is being built up at a relatively young age, which is good for them to aspire to great things at that age. We only wish we had more time for practice.

The school has had a number of successes sports-wise nonetheless, mostly on the boys’ side;
• In 2006, the school participated in the Lovelife Games at the district and lost in the final, losing at penalties of 5-4. (Boys)
• In 2008, the school team played in the Coca Cola Final at Ward Level and won 1-0 and then waited for the regional playoff but were never called. (Boys)
• In 2006, one of the learners in the school participated in the u/17 National Team and surprisingly dropped out of school and could partake further in his prospering future. (Boys)
• In 2007, Zamani Mdlalose was nominated to play for one of the schools that was taking part in the final in Sweden Gorthia Cup Tournament and represent the country. (Boys)
• The school was fortunate to have one of the sports organisers Mr. Dlamini who was able to organise some games at ward level with Star For Life. (Boys)
• The Ladies Soccer Team was called, at Regional Level, to partake in a tournament, they came first and thus won the “MAYOR's Cup” for Big 5 Ward in Mtubatuba in 2006. (Girls)
The soccer coaches have partaken in sports outside the school setting and all three soccer coaches are:
• Part of the Ladies Soccer Team Forum that participates in the Women's Soccer SAFA UMkhanyakude.
• Some of their male learners participate in the Makhasa Local Football Association.
• They have also led a team that played in the Regional level U/17 boys, this was the selection game and 06 of their boys at Mduku High School were selected to participate in the Provincial Games.
