Touch of Africa

What a party and what an atmosphere! Around 400 people from the private sector and some of Sweden’s top artists filled Berns Salonger in Stockholm on the 23rd of March 2009, to collect money to the LdB FC for Life and Star for Life initiative.

The main event for the night was of course the Star Choir from South Africa, who were lead by the Swedisch duo, Triple & Touch.

Guest artist for the night were the well-known magician, Seth Engström, the Swedisch blues singer Andreas Johnson, the Swedisch Idol-winner Kevin, and the Stockholm Ladies Choir with Cyndee Peters, Beverly Glenn, Sharon Dyall and Gladys del Pilar. They all contributed to a night that we will never forget.

Thank you all for taking part in a tremendous event and a great effort for young people in South Africa!

LdB FC also would like to thank their friends at Tyresö FF, who helped us to arrange this fantastic night!

Sport and social responsibility engage people. LdB FC is the right choice for companies looking to strengthen their brand by being associated with sporting success and a feminist commitment surrounding an international problem. LdB FC has become a hot club and women’s football an important factor to reckon with. It is the world’s fastest growing sport. Since the millennium shift, women’s football in Europe has grown by nine per cent per annum compared to 0.7 per cent for men’s football.

LdB FC for Life sponsors Star for Life. The project has already had a great significance for the club and the girls in South Africa. Our staff in South Africa use football to change attitudes and to bolster girls’ confidence and self-esteem.

Trough our collaboration with Star for Life we reach out to almost 20,000 South African girls. So far LdB FC for Life has trained leaders at some 40 schools in South Africa and here at home our aim is to engage 22 Swedish clubs in our work. Local commitment and direct contact between the young players is crucial. Our initiative is not economic support to alleviate a social conscience, but a project that involves people. The most difficult route is a conscious choice.

More and more companies are realising the positive effect of uniting their staff around a social project. It is vitally important on a universal level, important for the individuals themselves, and important from a business perspective for companies looking to stay in the forefront by showing commitment and contributing to society.

Once again, many thanks for supporting LdB FC for Life and Star for Life. The Gala Evening is over but the good deeds continue!
