Visit to South Africa
When LdB FC met Linköpings FC on Sunday October 18, the Malmö team played in a one-off, specially designed, Africa-inspired kit signed by Nelson Mandela’s grandson Nkosi* Mandela. After the game the 22 sets of kit were auctioned at www.itsawomensworld.se with the proceeds going to Nelson Mandelas home village, Mvezo.

South Africa’s legendary leader Nelson Mandela supports Star for Life, a Swedish project with the aim of decelerating the spread of HIV and AIDS in southern Africa.
In connection with this, LdB FC is seeking to give schoolgirls in the country something to believe in. In autumn 2007 a football project entitled LdB FC for Life got underway for girls in over 40 schools in the badly hit province of KwaZulu Natal in South Africa. The South African initiative is being led by LdB FC’s coach Anna Nyman.
Twenty two Swedish friendship clubs, that is to say women’s football clubs from Sundsvall in the north to Eslöv in the south, are also committed to LdB FC for Life.
“When the schoolgirls in South Africa play sport together it improves their self-esteem and gives them something to believe in. They have a greater chance of living a life without HIV and AIDS,” says Jenny Henrichson, PR Manager at LDB FC Marketing.
“The aim of the web auction of the match kit is to help Nelson Mandela’s grandson, Nkosi Mandela, lay a football pitch in Mvezo village.”
